I will not talk about "architecture" here. I will talk only about "the building".

As an architect, I am interested in the built form, and how it intersects with the many perspectives through which we try to understand the world - cultural, social, ecological, philosophical, aesthetic, economic, political, etc.
In the last decade, I have worked on projects both large and small, old and new. I have had the priviledge of meeting with elders, I have measured the Governor General's palm house and I have drawn plans for a few hundred dollars for a landlord's friend's DIY home extension. My experience has spanned single family homes and institutional projects. Projects I have worked on include the AGO's Modern and Contemporary expansion, Red River College's Manitou a bi Bii daziigae (recipent of an American Institute of Architects Canada Award of Design Excellence, and a finalist for the Ontario Association of Architects Design Excellence awards) Phase two of the Ottawa LRT, the renovation of the Governor General's Palm house, and numerous home additions and cottages. I am a Passivehouse certified designer, I have served on the OAA's sustainable built environment committee, Diamond Schmitt's sustainability committee, and I am a co-organizer for Guelph Green Drinks.

If you have a vision that involves the built environment, let's discuss. Let's plant that seed, water it - perhaps prune it a little - and watch it take root, grow, and interface with the world around it.

On the second Thrusday of each month, you will usually find me in the basement bar of the Red Chevron Club in Guelph, attending Guelph Green Drinks, at 7:30 pm, dreaming of ecological utopia.
